General Overview of Body Awareness Workshops:
Traditional group work emphasises talk therapy. Modern group work emphasises dance and body movement. At MELBOURNE BODY AWARENESS we work with both.
Our typical workshop will have a combination of talk and inquiry work in the first half, usally working with a specific structure which the facilitator will guide you through, and then moving into body movement and dance in the second half.
You may notice, every time you come in for a workshop, the chairs are arranged in a different position. Participants are encouraged to embrace the process, trusting the various parts of awareness it may move into. The variations of the structures (i.e. positioning of the chairs), are designed in such a way to allow for multidimensional experiencing, bringing you into a connection with every part of your life, on all levels.
Underlying every workshop is a foundation in the Focalizing Method as Pioneered by Dr. Michael Picucci.
What is Focalizing?
Focalizing is a healing technology that enables participants to completely reinvent their lives by resolving the barriers that prevent them from experiencing their fullest potential of well-being and joy. These barriers can be in the form of conditioned thinking, traumatic experiences, stress, depression, sexual and intimacy barriers and more. Once these blocks have been brought to resolution, Focalizing takes on the form of a creative tool that supports participants to access levels of awareness that allow them to act and make decisions that are deeply informed by their body and whole being.
Michael Picucci (1945-2018) was a contemporary psychologist who developed a therapeutic technique called Focalizing: Going Within to Move Beyond.
Professional Life:
Michael Picucci held a doctorate in addiction psychology. He elected to return to school to study psychology after a successful battle with cancer in the 1980s. Picucci had been diagnosed with terminal lymphoma in 1983, after losing his wife to cancer. Picucci was a master addiction counsellor and a private practice psychologist who specialized in treating the emotional effects of HIV/AIDS and addiction.
As a long-term survivor of trauma, lymphoma, and HIV, Picucci used his personal experiences to create his therapeutic techniques. Picucci lead workshops and trainings in Focalizing; he was the founder and director of the Institute for Staged Recovery in New York City, and he lead an annual retreat for gay and bisexual men.
Picucci published the book Complete Recovery: An Expanded Model of Community Healing in 1996, and The Journey Toward Complete Recovery: Reclaiming Your Emotional, Spiritual & Sexual Wholeness in 1998. and practiced in New York. His partner, Dr. Elias Guererro, played a critical role in Picucci's work.
Nick Weber (New York/USA) worked directly with Dr. Picucci for many years and Nick is now one of the lead trainers of facilitator/practitioners of the Focalizing Method in New York, USA.
Both Dosta (General Facilitator) and Chris (General Supervisor) completed their training with Nick Werber and are fully qualified facilitators of the Focalizing Method.
The seven conditions for focalizing, particularly within the context of Focalizing Dynamic Links (FDL), are designed to facilitate a state of deep connection and resonant energy between individuals. These conditions are:
Intention: A clear and focused intention is the starting point, directing the energy towards a specific goal or outcome. While the final outcome is never set in stone, it is best to start with a central directive to work with.
Suspension: This involves temporarily suspending judgments and allowing for a more open and receptive state. Thoughts and judgements can be impediments of honest self-inquiry. By working with suspension, you open yourself to a wider range of experiences.
Sensing: Recognizing and allowing the body's energy and sensations to be present and acknowledged. Every feeling, however big or small, reveals something about how you experience reality.
Imaging: Evoking meaningful images or symbols that arise from the sensing stage. Imagery helps bridge the primal and pre-fontal cortex regions of the brain, making it a process that spans all across the subjective experience of the mind.
Resourcing: Hold a certain number of things within you as a ground for positive growth. It might be a particular person in your life, an experience, a higher truth or realization. Resourcing is something that accompanies you throughout your process to allow for incremental change.
Engaging Opposite Energies: Merging new and old energies to create a sense of clarity and transformation. Allow each part within you to express it’s own innate intelligence.
Shifts of Perception and Experiencing: Developing new perspectives and ways of understanding situations. As realizations occur during the process, you are encouraged to integrate them through soulful observation – seeing your realizations in real time and weaving them in to your current understanding.

o Participants sit facing one another, speaking either directly towards each other, or directly from themselves, with multiple variations.
o Participants speak face to face, with prolonged eye contact and open inquiry.
o The participant who is receiving (listening) is as much a part of the process. Receiving is to be done with openness, centering and grounding, allowing for it’s own process to occur.

3) The Goldfish Awareness Movements (Interactive)
o Participants walk around the room at a pace that is slightly slower than their normal walking pace, just like ‘Goldfish in the pond’ swim around one another.

THURSDAYS – Body Awareness and Energy Practice: Resolving Inner Conflict and Opening to Parts Work
Synopsis:
One of the stables of the Focalizing Method is working with opposing energies. Essentially, there are many parts within you and allowing these parts to work as a symphony is the art of personal transformation.
You have a good side. You have a bad side. You have an intellectual side and an emotional/feeling side. You may be pulled in one direction in life, but feel conflicted by other projects and interests. Sometimes you are embodying something more masculine, other times something more feminine, and yet other times something else entirely. There are people you are drawn towards and people that repel you.
Perhaps we could go on all day with examples of inner contradictions…
When working with resolving inner conflict, we take the time to honour and acknowledge the various parts within, exploring how they have their own innate intelligence and way of being, and their own way of sitting inside your larger sense of self.

Body Awareness Workshops:
Perhaps there is nothing more powerful and thrilling, than beingin a room full of people who all hold a deep and relentless intention to get over the pain, get over the hurt and make an honest step towards compassionate
understanding and love. To be working with others, learning about others in an environment
that is specifically designed for personal growth is an experience that can
change you on a fundamental level.A Body Awareness Workshop is a process that requires dedication and trust. It is an unfolding that leads to a new you, a deeper understanding, a connection with something higher. It is a precious moment of bringing yourself
to face all that you need to face, with support and help on your side.Dance and Body Movement:
It is not enough to sit around and talk about your problems. It is not enough for someone to tell you the
answers, although insight and wisdom can go a long way to get you started.
What really gets things going is Body Awareness. This means bodymovement, dance, active meditations, embodiment techniques and all-around connection to your body.
Dance is one of the most direct methods of creating new neural pathwaysin the brain, giving more experiences of neuroplasticity. Dance reduces stress and anxiety, increases self-esteem, improves mindfulness, improves
cardiovascular health and opens you to the feelings center – where love and deeper connection is born.Active Meditations and Awareness Techniques:
As part of the full program, MELBOURNE BODY AWARENESS hosts about half adozen active meditations each week. These meditations have accompanying music and can have 4 or 5 different stages within them, including techniques of
dance, body movement, centering exercises, breathwork, emotion-center
techniques, silence, rest and awareness techniques.See more about Active Meditations under the heading “Full ProgramWorkshops”

From the Founder
From an early age I was noticing things aren’t quite what they seem…
Being raised in a conservative Christian family, I was certainly the black sheep, causing trouble, speaking out, acting confrontational with many of the adults in my life.
After school I went to study Jazz Piano full time at the Australian National University, and for a few short years, things were tremendously colourful. I ran my own bands, learned all the tricks of jazz and composition, having many chances to make and break my friends.
But it all crashed and burned because I had something in me, something like a little black cloud in the back of my mind that haunted each moment of the day.
I turned my creative flair to graffiti and for over ten years it was my passion and outlet. It was a thrilling sport, getting into tight situations, playing cat and mouse with the cops, crossing all sorts of boundaries of society, having no regard for anyone or anything else but for my own craving for the feeling.
It all came to a head again when I almost got hit by a train – a near death experience which I walked away from without a scratch on me, but as someone who had received an undeniable wakeup call.
From there my life turned towards learning, personal development and walking the path of knowledge.
While working as a regional manager for a chain of fast-food restraints, I buried myself in as many books as I could, often attending the local book fair with a wheelbarrow.
As I walked the path of knowledge, a grew to have an immense appreciation for the importance of Meditation, which became a critical component of my daily routine. I also regularly attended the 10 day Vipassana courses in the Blue Mountains.
Meditating more, reading more, came across the work of Osho and was completely blown away. I had heard all sorts of speakers before, but this guy was something else – a rascal of existential proportions!
I knew there was a Meditation resort where he had been, a place that offered Awareness Workshops and techniques of personal transformation. I knew there would be people there, people who understood, people who lived with the deeper experiences of life, the people I longed to meet and connect with.
But I kept putting it off. I didn’t hear the call. I was someone who was set in my ways, set in my job, stuck in my lifestyle, afraid to take the step to change.
But when life knocks on the door and you ignore it, life has a way of bringing it all down around you. Which is exactly what happened, making it impossible for me to deny my next move.
I went to India to learn Meditation and Awareness Techniques at the Osho International Meditation resort.
My first time there, I was there for a total of 9 months, participating in dozens of active meditations, awareness programs and classes, learning Tai Chi, attending Awareness Intensives – some as long as 21 days!
Over the next few years, I regularly went back to Osho International Meditation Resort, becoming a qualified facilitator, meeting like-minded people, attending Awareness Intensives and all around having an absolute blast. I met people there who completely changed everything I could have ever imagined about life and soul and what it means to be alive.
I have seen it again and again; in all the various workshops I have attended, someone comes in with that look in their face, the look that says “I have tried everything else, and it didn’t work.” And as the process unfolds, the transformation happens. By the time they come out the other side, they have light emanating right out of their being, they have found something undeniable. They have that look in their face that says “Yes… this is love, this is who I am, this is my truest self...” – They are filled with a gratitude that is far deeper and far higher than anything they had known before.
I have seen people grow like this not just a few times, not even just dozens of times, but hundreds of times. At this stage it is an irrefutable fact – these techniques work!
Those years have been etched into my soul. I feel those experiences, those people, that place, from right down inside my bones. More has happened in India than I could ever talk about, and even now it brings tears to my eyes.
My story doesn’t fit into a few small words on a screen. And I have written my novel-length autobiography, which may some day yet be released.
But since my time in India, I could sense a new chapter unfolding. I could hear the call to be grounded again, living in a place and working on a core project.
In 2025 I moved to Melbourne with the sole intention of founding MELBOURNE BODY AWARENESS – a place for workshops and community, a place that offers the same opportunity that was provided to me during my time in India.
This is my core directive, my prime passion, my North Star – to be sharing all I have learned and discovered for myself, to be a facilitator for anyone who is ready to take the next step.
Melbourne is my place. This city resonates with me in untold ways and I intend to stay. I will be here for as long as it takes. Whatever it takes, mark this point here as my new beginning. Mark this moment here as my first step in the next chapter.
For you to read these words, to have found my website is nothing short of a chance coincidence. This may be the calling you have been waiting for.
MELBOURNE BODY AWARENESS needs YOU to take the next step and join the path of personal transformation. We need a juicy participant like you to bring what you are to the game. Together we can work towards a new kind of healing, a new depth of clarity, a new age of compassionate understanding.
We need YOU to join now, as an active participant who is ready to bring a higher awareness, a higher intelligence, a way of showing up that is relentless, authentic and loving.
This is my call for YOU to see something remarkable and jump at the chance to get involved in the program.
Join now and discover who you are

What is an Awareness Intensive?
Your day-to-day life lacks acute experience. You are always somewhere between profound experience, boredom and uncomfortable difficulties.
An Awareness intensive is the chance for you to get right with what needs to be right. It is a good, hard, honest look at what needs to change in your life. It is a process that provides support, within a structure that is specifically designed to allow for personal transformation.
You can process your life over years and years of therapy, sometimes flabbling around the issues, sometimes getting to the issue, many times missing the point entirely… or you can cut right to your core in a matter of moments.
An Awareness Intensive is structured to bring you into the truth of the matter in such a way as to make it undeniable. There is no more beating about the bush. There are no more excuses. It is simply a good hard hit at what really matters.
An awareness intensive also brings you new skills, new understandings, new realisations that carry over into your life. You have a sense of deep profound experience even when you’re in an every day normal kind of scenario. You no longer feel bored without the excessive stimulation and distraction of all that society has to offer. You find a new sense of grounding and peace in moments of uncomfortable difficulties. You make your way through challenges with grace and understanding.
An awareness intensive is an opportunity to grow into your higher self, to realise all that you are, to let go of everything that is holding you back.
MELBOURNE BODY AWARNESS will be bringing in international facilitators from around the world to run the awareness intensives as our capacity expands. Many of these facilitators have decades of experience, having worked in many countries, across cultures.
All Awareness Intensives include preview sessions where participants are invited to try out the techniques and get a sense of the effect. You will also have many opportunities to speak with the facilitators about the process.
Upcoming Awareness Intensives – DATES TO BE ANNOUNCED
Time Travel & Time Dilation Methods: (3 Days)
Eternity is always here and always now. You sit within the infinite vastness of time. So why is it that we so often get caught up in the little things? We are, all of us, timeless beings. So why is it that we so often get caught up in the person standing right in front?
This course works with the perception and experiencing of time in all the many ways it shows up in life. Participants are introduced to dozens of techniques of experiencing time and bringing oneself into the present moment. Touching upon both the every day moments of life and larger existential realizations, this course reveals a new way of making your way through life.
Primal De-Conditioning Awareness Intensive: (7 Days)
This course works to undo the conditioning that was place on you from birth by you parents, family and friends, local community and society at large. By following the process, participants are shown the various aspects of their conditioning that are impressing upon them. Participants see how a voice is following them, how a behaviour is repeating itself, how a feeling is holding back higher growth. The Primal De-Conditioning Awareness Intensive tears away layers and reveals the pure self within, the self that has been with you since before you were born.
The Rebel Awareness Intensive: (6 Days)
This course works as an extension of the Primal De-Conditioning Awareness Intensive, working with family conditioning, intimate relationships, sexuality, desire, vision of future self, and many aspects of identity and conditioning.
Osho Mystic Rose: (21 Days)
This Awareness Intensive works on an emotional and energetic level, bypassing the analytical mind. It is entirely non-verbal, allowing for explorations of mind, heart, body and soul as an individual process of transformation.
For the first week, in the core session of three hours, participants are instructed to laugh. Continuous laughter for three hours, no matter what! Participants may support one another by interacting and moving about. Perhaps every kind of laughter may make its appearance in it’s own time: Deep laughter, crazy laughter, fake laughter, weak laughter, strong laughter, evil laughter, exhausted laughter, existential laughter. There is no telling how far this laughter can take you.
For the second week, in the core session of three hours, participants are instructed to cry. Tears work wonders for healing. Tears cleanse things on a level so profound some may say it even extends beyond your own entire life. Every tear contains a story. And there are not just tears of pain and sorrow, but also tears of beauty. It is when you have experienced every kind of tear you come to know all that you are.
For the third week, in the core session of three hours, participants are instructed to remain in silence. This week is also known as ‘Watcher on the hill’ – a process of allowing everything to be in silence. Whatever arises, allow it to rise. Whatever passes, allow it to pass.
“I have invented many meditations,
but perhaps this will be
the most essential and fundamental one.” – Osho
Let the Scars of the Past Be Dissolved
Whenever any experience is not fully lived in the moment, it leaves a residue inside us. It may be a small thing or something really significant but those residues or scars stay in the unconscious blocking our natural ability to flower to our full potential. Whatever is left in the unconscious remains, waiting for an opportunity to be expressed, accepted, and resolved.
No Need for Words, Discussions or Analysis. When we allow all our un-laughed laughter, our un-cried tears, and our un-lived silence to be experienced, we can allow whatever is in the unconscious to flow freely and be lived now – and be resolved forever.
The laughter, tears and silence do their work without the need for words, discussion, or analysis as is typical of conventional “therapy.”
You just participate with totality and sincerity, and the rest happens by itself.
Dynamic Meditation, Kundalini Meditation and Evening Meeting Meditation also form part of this course.
Osho No-Mind: (7 Days)
In this course participants are given space to explore the full spectrum of body and mind awareness. The central technique is that of gibberish. Anything you wish you could have expressed, but couldn’t, can now be expressed in gibberish. Beyond the expressions of the voice, there is also the gibberish of the body. Each part of the body has an energetic expression, a connection to feeling and expressing. By working with body gibberish, participants are opening to new feelings and new abilities of awareness.
The core session of this course runs for two hours a day, every day for a week. In the first hour, gibberish, in the second hour sit silently with eyes closed.
Dynamic Meditation, Kundalini Meditation and Evening Meeting Meditation also form part of this course.
Osho Born Again: (7 Days)
Some people didn’t have a childhood. Some people have completely lost any sense of the meaning of the phrase ‘to play’. Behaviour has a vast range of potentiality to it, there is an infinite range of possibilities, and yet we so often get suck in old habits. The Born Again course is an invitation to explore your own natural way of being.
The core session of this course runs for two hours a day, every day for a week. In the first hour, participants are instructed to behave how they wanted to behave as a child. Whatever you feel you wanted to do, go ahead and do it! It is a non-verbal interactive process. For the second hour, participants are instructed to sit silently with eyes closed.
Dynamic Meditation, Kundalini Meditation and Evening Meeting Meditation also form part of this course.
Who Is In? – Awareness Intensive:
In this course participants work with a Koan as instructed by the facilitator. The sessions work in ‘brackets’ where participants work in pairs, taking turns to express and inquire into the Koan. It is a radical turning inwards, a passionate dive into the mystery of who you are. It is a process of throwing away all that is fake, all that is inauthentic, all that is frivolous, to reveal your truest nature.
The core structure works with multiple brackets throughout the day, from early in the morning to late at night, as instructed by the facilitator.
"Koan is a puzzle that cannot be solved. Doesn't matter what you do. Not a question of intelligence, it's simply impossible to solve. The moment you realize that all your efforts have been wasted and nothing else is possible, a great silence engulfs you. In that silence, you are no more. The puzzle remains, but you solved it. And that is the purpose of the koan itself. The puzzle stays forever. And that's why the same koans have been used for thousands of years. That's because a proposal can never be solved. However, a koan unties the person. Problems, doubts, questions, everything just disappears. When the mind completely fails to solve a small puzzle, the mind stops. The mind has tried every way, but there is no way out. And the moment your mind loses, you encounter yourself... Beyond your mind, beyond your words" – Osho
Dynamic Meditation, Kundalini Meditation and Evening Meeting Meditation also form part of this course.
Because of the extensive preparation and infrastructure that is required for an awareness intensive, these events will NOT be happening every year, but rather, by demand and interest.

Music & Additional
Burn Meditation Music:
MELBOURNE BODY AWARENESS regularly uses the BURN MEDITATION as a foundational process.
A Burn Meditation is a non-interactive group experience. You remain in your own space throughout. The process typically begins with slow music while the facilitator guides participants into different areas of Awareness, often focusing on the sensations of the body. From there, the music can flow into many directions, exploring peaks and valleys of the emotional spectrum, including light and dark. Participants are guided to move their body in various ways, opening to emotion, feeling, healing and growing. It is an active process during which you remain alert to what is happened in the present moment.
Traditional Meditation usually works with a simple instruction, which you return to again and again. For example, you are instructed to follow your breath, and whatever happens, you are to return your attention to your breath. From there, many things arise, from all areas of feelings, emotion, thought and consciousness. But Traditional Meditation always stresses the ‘letting-go’ of these experiences. It puts all importance on the central directive.
The Burn Meditation is a modern process of Awareness that works almost as an opposite approach to Traditional Meditation. Instead of returning to a directive, you are invited to follow and explore what is arising. If darkness is arising, you embrace it. If anger is arising, you embrace it. If feelings of power and grandeur are arising, you embrace it. All the while you remain alert and present with what is happening, being perfectly aware with how your physical body is responding, in all the many ways it can respond. This allows the feelings and experiences to follow their natural course, thus revealing new insights and experiences not commonly found in Traditional Meditation.
Burn Meditation is best done at first in a group setting, with the guidance of an experienced facilitator.
Because the Burn Meditation is a full spectrum process, it utilises many different styles of music, often flowing in and out of a number of different genres even within the one session.
MELBOURNE BODY AWARENESS has an ANGER BURN every Wednesday as part of the Anger Day workshop. There are also other workshops throughout the month that use the Burn Meditation.
If you are averse to loud and aggressive music, you are advised to bring earplugs and speak with the facilitator before the session. This is especially the case for the Anger Burn, as it often uses aggressive music. The process is constructed to bring participants into a side of their emotional world that is often neglected and repressed. With the assistance of the music and the facilitator, you are able to bring a new awareness, and thus a new understanding, to what is happening on your ‘dark side’ – the side of yourself that is less familiar to you.
The aggressive music is NOT intended to cause overwhelm as this is NOT helpful for healing and integrating. Participants are to remain grounded and cantered throughout the process and therefore, if you are becoming overwhelmed, it is best to work with a facilitator to allow your process to be flowing in a natural way. That being said, there is always room to explore feelings that are uncomfortable, as every participant is given the power to explore as far or as little as they are ready to explore. The power and the responsibility always remains entirely with the participant.
Dance Celebration Music:
Every Friday MELBOURNE BODY AWARENESS presents the Dance Celebration. This music is brought to you by the resident DJ and the occasional guest appearance. This music brings the energy of celebration, body positivity, body movement, connection and open interaction between participants. Music styles include, (but are not limited to); Classic House, Modern House, Electro Swing, EDM, Drum & Bass, Tropical House, Club House, Trance, Uplifting Hip-Hop, Tribal House and many others.
Friday night Dance Celebration is a glorious experience of freedom and fun!
